Heavy Pack

I know some of you out there have an interest in backpacks. Me too.
This one may be small, but its story is heavy- I can only give a low-whistle.
This knapsack belonged to my Grandfather, Ken, who was a soldier in WWII.
It saw action in North Africa, Borneo and possibly New Guinea (?)
Stamp on the strap shows the Broad Arrow mark.
Ken was a gnarly character- he would say stuff to me like:
"When I was a boy- there were no "back-packs"! Yer made yer own! From an ol' sugar bag an' two bits a ROPE! Yer dont know what a sugar bag is?! Do ya know who Joseph Furphy is? Well whata they teach you in school- Nothing?!"
